The Lancaster County Coroner's office was called to the crash scene on July 7, 2023, according to Lancaster County Wide Communications.

Clinton Rohrer, 97, of Lititz, has been identified as the victim of the deadly crash by the coroner's office.

The crash happened in the 700 block of Doe Run Road by West Lexington Road in Lititz, Penn Township at 6:47 a.m., according to LCWC.

The preliminary investigation suggested that Rohrer had driven a “gator” (side-by-side all-terrain vehicle) to get his mail. He then exited the ATV, and walked into the westbound lane to get to his mailbox on the side of the highway— into the path of a silver Toyota Camry, according to Northern Lancaster police.

The couple in the car later told the police that they saw Rohrer, but he "without warning, suddenly stepped into his path of travel. The driver attempted to avoid the collision but was unable to do so," as stated in the release.

Officers and EMS personnel on the scene were unable to revive Rohrer.

The NLCRPD Criminal Investigations Division, the crash reconstruction team, and members of the Lancaster County Crash investigated the scene.

"The driver of the striking vehicle has been cooperating with the investigation. Final outcomes are pending," the NLCRPD said.

The investigation is ongoing.
